Baptism is an important symbol of God’s faithfulness to the children of believers. We baptize those new to Christian faith because of the Lord's command in Matthew 28:18-19. We baptize children, because of the family baptism of the Philippian jailer in Acts 16:32-34 , the teaching from the Apostle Paul that children of believers are holy in 1 Corinthians 7:14, and because of Acts 2:29 that God's promises are for believers and their children. Infant/child baptism marks the child as part of the community of faith and a Christian-in-training. Someday we hope and pray that children marked by baptism will make parents' faith their faith, take their own public stand for Jesus Christ (profession of faith/confirmation), and live their lives devoted to Jesus. Baptism is available for the child or baby of any Pathway member. Only one parent needs to be a member in order to request infant/child baptism.
